General Rules and Regulations 2007
These General Rules cover all Classes & BRCA National & Open Meetings within the 1:12th Oval Section, except were indicated. They should also be read in conjunction with specific class rules.
General Rules
1) At the Sections AGM the Chairman once elected shall hold the position for two years, likewise with the Secretary’s position. These positions should be elected on alternate years.
2) The committee reserves the right to amend the rules as required, after consultation with promoters.
3) Any competitor found in contravention of the spirit of the sport or rules will be disqualified from that meeting, be it at club or nationals events etc and will serve a suspension period deemed appropriate by the committee of the BRCA 1/12th Oval section.
General National & Open Race Meeting Rules
1) All National meetings will be arranged by the event organiser with pre entry forms. Entry forms to be generally available at least one calendar month prior to the meeting. Money will be paid on return of entry form. Entry fee to be £4.00 per junior and £6.00 per adult. A levy of £2.00 per meeting per person will also apply. BRCA membership cards must be shown during booking in procedure. It is advised that any club holding a BRCA sanctioned event should provide an agenda of the meeting included with the entry form.
This agenda to cover such items as:
a) Venue, dates, and approximate times of practice, heats and finish time.
b) Contact names, addresses and phone numbers.
c) Classes and costs.
d) Closing date for entries.
e) Any special requirements of the venue, power points, lead acid batteries etc.
f) Details of any refreshments available.
g) Entry forms must include a space for the drivers BRCA membership number & official BRCA race number.
h) Notify if concourse event will be run.
2) Entries to be done via the club promoter or nominated club representative.
3) Drivers must supply 3 frequencies. Per class entered. Not 3 only split between classes.
4) Lap scoring at all national meetings to be carried out by an approved automated lap counting program, on a reliable computer system approved by the BRCA 1/12th Oval Committee
5) A suitable audible signal will start each race.
6) A sanctioned event must have the following officials: - Race Director, who must be present throughout the meeting. Chief Scrutineer, who will ensure that all cars meet the requirements of the rules. BRCA Steward, who has absolute authority at race meetings and is responsible for interpretations of the rules.
7) Health and Safety. These rules are mandatory and the meeting may not proceed until the BRCA steward is satisfied that these have been observed:
a) A first aid kit is to be made available for self-administration. This is to be held in an easily accessible area, (club officials discretion).
b) Fire extinguishers should be available at all venues.
c) Junior members aged 10 or11 years of age will only be permitted to marshal if :-
i) They wish to do so.
ii) They use a marshalling stick.
iii) They do not walk on the racing area while the race is in progress.
d) If drivers are to stand on a rostrum over 2 foot in height i.e. stage or platform then a suitable fixed front barrier is required to the satisfaction of the safety officer or BRCA steward in attendance.
8) Minimum track width is 1metre. Start lines must be clearly visible.
9) National venues to have minimum six power points available for competitors use.
10) Only the driver involved may be allowed to question their lap scores. A parent or guardian can represent any junior member.
11) Drivers to marshal races as instructed, failure to comply will result in a 25 lap penalty from the total qualifying score.
12) Code of conduct- any committee member can bring to the driver’s attention, any misconduct by them or their pit crew and may penalize the offending driver at the discretion of the committee. Drivers or pit crew who fail to observe the code of conduct will be disqualified from the meeting.
13) Drivers shall be responsible for the collection and fitting of the correct transponder in their car.
14) All competitors will drive from the designated position. Failure to comply will result in the loss of that score.
15) Any car losing a wheel or tyre during a race must be removed from the track and have it replaced. Failure to comply will result in immediate disqualification from that race.
16) Any repairs to vehicles must be affected off the track.
17) Once a race has started the changing of cells is strictly forbidden.
18) Transmitters must be switched off whilst not racing. External battery packs for radio transmitters are not allowed. Voltage supply to the transmitter may not exceed the manufacturers recommendations.
19) Protests- must be in writing and must include a £10.00 fee. This fee is refunded if the protest is upheld. If a standard motor is protested and found to be legal then the value of the motor is reimbursed to its owner.
20) Only legal frequencies may be used and all equipment must conform to the current regulations.
21) The number of events to count towards the National Championship’s will be half plus one.
22) At all BRCA 1:12th Oval Race Meetings there shall be a minimum of 10 minutes practice for each class being raced on the day. Practice shall either be by Peg Board or by structured practice heats.
23) Trophies to be given out as soon as possible, to allow people who have travelled a long way to start their journeys earlier.
24) The driver who sets F.T.Q (during the heats) will score one point towards the national championships. Ties will be decided on split times.
25) At all BRCA 1:12th Oval sanctioned race meetings, all “A” finalists shall receive a Trophy (this covers all classes). At saloon car meetings there will be additional trophies for each winner of all other finals.
At all the above meetings there shall be trophies for best blue, yellow & white roof grades, there will also be a trophy for best junior – these to be for all classes. All graded trophies will be awarded to NON FINAL trophy winners. Race promoters may if they so wish award trophies for Concourse and any others as they see fit. Trophies must be of a reasonable quality.
26) At all national meetings the cars will be checked by the BRCA official scrutineer or deputy or official club scrutineer, prior to racing, before each heat and before & after finals. A scrutineering box and gauge to be made available for all BRCA meetings.
27) If a motor is changed, the scrutineer must approve it. Failure to get the motor approved will result in loss of any results taken using the changed motor.
28) Any body-shells entered in the concourse event must be run for the duration of the event as scrutineered prior to first race.
29) At the end of the meeting, all score sheets to be given to the BRCA points compiler, who will check all results and be responsible for the distribution of the points tables.
30) Competitors will be awarded 5 points for attending each National meeting. Points will be added to the competitors total scores after the final round.
31) There will be one Race Number list covering all classes of 1:12th Oval. Drivers racing in the previous years series shall be able to keep their previous Race Number, provided they have registered with the Number Sec. by 28th February of the ensuing year. If not registered by this date, previously used numbers can be applied for. All unused numbers to be issued on a first come basis.
General Construction Rules
1) No car shall be constructed so as to be dangerous to persons or cause damage to competitor’s cars or to the track surface. No sharp or protruding objects are allowed on the cars.
2) Body and chassis must be securely joined at the start of race and must remain on car during the race. When initially entered at a meeting the body shell must be neatly finished and complete.
3) Steel whip aerials and rollover masts are not allowed.
4) Radio control receivers carried in the car can have either two devices connected, (normally the steering servo and the speed controller) or 3 channel (can be used for flashing lights for club level or superstars for national level).
5) No tyre additives are allowed.
6) The use of multiple speed transmissions (gearboxes) is not allowed, only 32dp pitch gears will be allowed.
7) Only one drive motor is allowed per car.
8) For drivers wishing to develop or modify cars, this should be done and tested at club level. The next stage maybe to test at National level, with the consent of the committee. Any testing at Nationals, will lead to the driver going to the last position after qualifying ie if there are 20 drivers competing, after qualifying the testing driver will be deemed to be 20th. No testing driver will pick up any points for the series or receive any trophies.
Mini Stox, Saloon Stox & V12 Hot-Rod Racing Rules 2007
1) All open and national meetings shall be run on carpet. No additives allowed. All open and national meetings will have A to Z finals. Race format to be 4 qualifying heats and finals by total laps, best 3 from 4 rounds to count, heats to be of 5 minute duration, except in the case of a large entry when races may be reduced to 4 minutes duration. Heats to be shuffled each round and where possible a reasonable cross-section of roof grades are to be in each heat.
2) Races will start in graded order, commencing with white tops on the start line, yellow tops a quarter lap behind, blue tops a further quarter lap down, etc. Finals will start in qualifying order. The race format is maximum eight cars in a final. Finals will be run in qualifying order, i.e. first eight on the A final, next eight in the B final and so on. Minimum five, maximum nine cars in any one race. This applies at organizational stage only. In the event of a tie at any national meeting, it will be decided on a drivers previous lap scores, including split times, starting with the highest then the next highest etc. If still undecided then a run off will take place.
3) In all classes the World Champion will have a Gold roof, and may not be graded lower than Superstar for a four-year period after the title win. The National Senior Points Champion will have a Silver roof, and cannot be graded lower than Red for a five-year period. The European Champion will have a Red/Yellow chequered roof and cannot be graded lower than red for two-years. The British Open Champion will have a Black/White chequered roof and cannot be graded lower than red for two-years. The Ladies National Champion will have two 10mm Pink stripes, Ladies Word Champion will have Pink Chequers. The Junior World Champion will have a 10mm Gold stripe. The Junior National Points Champion will have a 10mm Silver stripe. The European Junior Champion will have a 10mm Red/Yellow stripe. The English Open winner shall have the flag of ST. George on the roof. The Scottish Open winner will have the flag of St. Andrew on the roof. The Welsh Open winner shall have the flag of St. David on the roof. All open roof colours will only last for a twelve-month period after the title win. All club champions or point’s champions shall have flashing lights or two Gold stars in place of flashing lights and be recognised at national level. National grading will apply to all racers except those who have never raced at a national meeting before, who will be allowed to start at their club grade. Only novices new to radio controlled racing may be graded as a white top roof. If members of more than one club then highest grade will apply at national level. Any driver through lack of attendance over a period of time may not drop more than one grade from the last one held; unless the grade was yellow then it will stay yellow.
4) Mini Stox, Saloon Stox and Hotrods will race clockwise on an oval.
5) Hotrods are to be run as a non-contact formula. Any driver seen to be deliberately T-boning, straight lining or fencing another car will be removed from the track. Any second offence will be disqualification from the meeting.
6) Practice sessions may be run, but the different classes must run separately. A frequency pegboard shall be used at all times.
7) At national meetings there may be a concourse competition; any bodies entered must be run for the duration of the event as scrutineered. Judging to be by a nominated person/persons.
8) National dates to be finalised by the 1st March.
9) Trophies to be given out as soon as possible to allow people who have travelled a long way to start their journeys earlier. Trophies to be awarded as follows: - All A finalists and the first place in all other final, clubs may give additional trophies.
Stockcar Racing Rules
1) Heats and finals to be of 5-minute duration, except in the case of a large entry when races may be reduced to 4 minutes duration. Heats to be shuffled each round and where possible a reasonable cross-section of roof grades in each heat.
2) Three rounds at each meeting to count, format is best three from four. Races will start in graded order, commencing with white grades on the back straight opposite the start/finish line, then yellow a quarter lap down, blue grades a further quarter behind and so on. Finals and consolations will start in qualifying order from the start line. The race format is eight cars in the final consisting of the top 7 qualifiers plus the winner from an 8-car consolation race. Minimum five, maximum nine cars in any one race. This applies at organizational stage only. In the event of a tie at any national meeting, it will be decided by the highest lap score of any round followed by the next highest etc., then if still a tie, it will be decided on split times of the highest lap.
3) The World Champion will have a Gold roof, and may not be graded lower than Superstar for a four-year period after the title win. If protesting about a race score, the driver must prove a computer fault, and if needed the race will be re-run.
6) National dates where possible, to be finalised by the 28th February.
7) The 1/12th Stockcar Worlds will be run biannually along with the European event. I.e. the Worlds Championships will run on odd years and the European Championships will be run on even years.
Stockcar Construction Rules
1) Models to be a reasonable representation of a full size open wheel (Brisca F1 or F2 type car) and to have a minimum ground clearance of 3mm and 1mm under gear at scrutineering.
2) Overall chassis length to be between 285mm and 310mm. Overall chassis width to be a maximum of 160mm.
3) Front and rear bumpers must be fitted, and have a contact surface between 9mm and 16mm. The distance between the bumper centreline and the ground must be between 32mm and 41mm. All bumpers must be plugged and have no sharp edges and must be constructed from a non-metallic material.
4) Over riders must be bolted to front and rear bumpers. The height from the top of the bumper to the top of the overrides must be between 19mm and 32mm at the front and must have a maximum of 19mm at the rear.
5) Nerf bars must be fitted on the same level as the bumpers and attached to the chassis rails with a maximum contact surface of 10mm.
6) Bodies and aerofoils must be made from ABS or polycarbonate, metal bodies or aerofoils are not allowed. All four windows must be cut out on both Lexan and ABS Shells. The height of the body roof from the floor to be between 88mm and 126mm. Aerofoils if fitted must have no sharp edges and be mounted in a safe manner. The maximum size of the centre panel to be no more than 126mm-126mm, and the side panels 126mm-70mm.The roofs must be painted down to the waistline of the body with the drivers classification colour, if an aerofoil is fitted, this alone may be painted with the drivers classification colour, if the driver wishes.
7) Driver’s national race number must be displayed on the exterior of the car, with a minimum height of 10mm. Any colour may be used but it must be legible. Only one racing number allowed per membership. Racing numbers will be available for renewal from the 1st January until the 28th February each year. Any numbers not registered by that date will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. The drivers name must be on the outside of the body.
8) The cost of the complete car excluding radio equipment and cells must not exceed £145.00. In the case of scratch built cars the entrant must be prepared to produce replicas of the car if so required for a price of £145.00 or less.
9) Motors must be Mabuchi RS540SH / Irvine Topaz / or the V14 only and must remain unopened. External motor bearings or fine pitch gears are not allowed.
10) Batteries to be sub C sized cells only, and be 23mm diameter and 42mm length rated @ 1.2 volts per cell, with a maximum of 6 cells and 7.2 volts nominal, all types of dry cells to be permitted
11) All cars will have reverse fitted and must be checked before each race.
12) Electronic speed controllers are not allowed.
13) Limited slip devices and differentials of any kind are not allowed solid rear axle only.
14) Steel whip aerials and anti roll masts are not allowed. Arial tubes to be a maximum height of 200mm from track surface.
15) Tyres must have a minimum 12mm and maximum 26mm width, and maximum 60mm diameter. Tyre additives are not allowed.
16) Ball races allowed on rear axle only.
17) Base plate to be made from GRP only, top chassis to be nylon or polypropylene only.
Mini Stox Construction Rules
1) Cars to be 1/12th scale reasonable representation of a full size Mini type car.
2) Any make of servo saver may be used on the steering servo.
3) Any make of track rod or ends may be used.
4) The tyres may be changed from the original kit tyres (sleeved tyres are allowed on the all Mini Stox)
5) Body shells are to be of ABS construction only, all windows must be cut out as per original. (no portholes)
6) Ball races allowed on rear axle only.
7) Only Mini Stox or R12 parts to be used. No V12 suspension parts. Countersunk screws may be used, chassis must be countersunk to accept them.
8) Any commercially available speed controller may be used, must have reverse fitted and working. Mechanical to have a maximum retail price of £30-00, Electronic £60-00. Receiver battery packs are allowed.
9) Any holes drilled must be used or filled.
10) The motor may be fitted to either side of the chassis, providing that there is no modification or alteration to the chassis or mounting blocks.
11) Max. width of car including body shell to be the same as the V12 Hot-Rod. Max. length of car, including bumpers if fitted to be 292mm. Bumpers to be fitted externally.
12) Bumpers to be fitted and constructed from a non-metallic material. Width max 160mm but must not protrude beyond wheels. Height to be no more than 30mm. The appearance to be similar to that of a full size Mini Stox.
13) Max width of tyres to be front 25.4mm and rear 32mm. Max tyre diameter to be 57mm. Only foam tyres allowed.
14) Cars to use four cells only, cells to be sub-C sized cells only, with a nominal voltage of 1.2 volts per cell, cells to be Nicads or Nimahs. Cells must be readily identifiable. Battery mountings may be changed from the original.
15) Motors must be Mabuchi RS540SH or the V14 only and must remain unopened. External motor bearings or fine pitch gears are not allowed.
16) Steel whip aerials and rollover masts are not allowed, and aerials must remain inside the body shell.
17) At BRCA events drivers name and BRCA number must be clearly displayed at the top of the front windscreen, not less than 5mm high. Official BRCA race number to be displayed on both sides of the car
18) At BRCA events the drivers roof grade colour (if known) must be on the roof of the car covering the whole roof and pillars.
20) Body and chassis must be securely joined at all times the car is on the track. No wings or aerofoils or any under body aids are allowed.
21) Alternative motor pinions may be used, providing no alteration is made to the motor mounting blocks. Motor fluid and additives are allowed.
22) If you intend to alter your car in any way that is not covered by the above, you must check with the Mini Stox scrutineer, for approval. We expect all drivers to use common sense when modifying cars and to enter into the spirit of the sport.
23) There must be a minimum ground clearance of 3mm, this is to include any protruding screws, 1mm clearance for spur gear.
24) Due to the unavailability of some spares for the old Mini Stox, substitute part may be used (such as available and used by the 1/12th Stock cars - i.e. motor mounts & front axle beam), providing they conform to any sizes within the rest of the construction rules. For clarification, advice must be sort from the BRCA Mini Stox scrutineer.
25) If any scratch built parts are being used. Parts must be available to other competitors to purchase.
26) Chassis to be single piece & constructed in GRP only, measuring no more than 220mm in length and 80mm in width. Notches allowed in chassis for wheel clearance.
Saloon Stox Construction Rules
1) All cars to be 1/12th scale and be a reasonable representation of a full size Saloon Stox car.
2) Maximum width of car to be 178mm, maximum length to be 356mm. With a minimum ground clearance of 3mm.
3) All running gear to be fitted to a one piece flat plate chassis. Choice of chassis material is free; V12 chassis may be used. Front and rear bumpers must be fitted to the flat plate chassis and must not project beyond the outer edges of the wheels and to be fitted as to rule 1.
4) All cars to have the windows cut out or clearly defined. The whole of the roof panel must be painted with the drivers classification colour. Wheel wells must be cut out as per the full size car and when initially entered into a meeting the body shell must be neatly finished and complete.
5) Maximum cost of a ready to race car, (excluding radio equipment, batteries, motor, speed controller and body shell) to be £85.00. Any scratch built parts, chassis etc. must have a price at which they are available for other competitors.
6) Batteries to be sub C sized cells. Maximum 6 cells to be used, rated @ 1.2 volts per cell.
7) Motors to be Mabuchi 540SH only. External motor bearings are not allowed. Motor end bell may be pinned.
8) Limited slip devices and differentials are not allowed. Solid rear axle only.
9) Minimum 12mm and maximum 26mm width of front tyres rear tyres minimum 12mm, maximum 38mm. Tyre diameter front and rear to be minimum 44mm and maximum 57mm. Tyre additives are not allowed.
10) Drivers name to be on outside of car and clearly visible.
11) Any type of speed controller may be used with a maximum price of £60.00. Reverse must be fitted and working at the start of each race.
12) Ball races allowed on rear axle only.
Bumpers: - external ones must be fitted front and rear using a non-metallic material to look like the “real thing” on the front, must be of grid appearance. The bumpers may extend 3mm beyond width of the shell but may not extend beyond 178mm in total width. No full stock car top chassis to be used.
14) No unrealistic wings, aerofoils, spoiler or under body aids unless in the original car design or moulding
15) Approved body shell list for 2004:- M.G. Magnet, Datsun 240/2602, Morris Minor, Ford Escort MK1 and MK2, Sierra/Sapphire, Mondeo, Wolsey 110, Capri, Rover P6, Sierra Corworth, BMW 3 series, Peugeot 205 &206, Ford Escort MkI, MG Magnet, Ford Granada, Morris Minor, Hillman Imp/Stilleto, Nissan 250Z, Ford Mondeo.
Hotrod Construction Rules
1) Cars to be 1/12th scale Mardave V12 series chassis with any commercially available body shell.
2) Any make of servo saver may be used on the steering servo.
3) Any make of track rod or ends may be used.
4) The tyres may be changed from the original kit tyres
5) ABS body shells are allowed, all windows must be cut out or clearly defined. Polycarbonate body shells are allowed, windows must remain clear, not tinted or maybe cut out.
6) Ball races allowed on rear axle only. Rear axle and spur gear must remain as kit.
7) Chassis and front and rear wheel carriers and suspension springs to be as kit. Countersunk screws must not be used on the underside of chassis.
8) Any commercially available speed controller may be used, must have reverse fitted and working. Mechanical to have a maximum retail price of £30, Electronic £60. Receiver battery packs are allowed.
9) Only nine extra holes (max. 3mm) may be drilled in the chassis, two holes must be used for mounting the steering servo, two holes to be used for mounting an on/off switch, and one hole to mount the aerial tube, and a max of four holes for alternative battery mounting, if any of these items are not used, then the holes must not be drilled. Any holes drilled and not used must be filled. Chassis top mounting plate may be changed, altered or removed.
10) The motor may be fitted to either side of the chassis, providing that there is no modification or alteration to the chassis or mounting blocks.
11) External front and rear bumpers are not allowed.
12) Min 20mm. Max 26mm width of tyres and Max 60mm diameter no Min diameter of tyres, but the tyre must cover the wheel. Any foam tyre compound allowed. A minimum ground clearance of 3mm.
13) Cars to use four cells only, cells to be sub-C sized cells only, with a nominal voltage of 1.2 volts per cell, cells to be Nicad and Nimahs. Cells must be readily identifiable. Battery mountings may be changed from the original.
14) Motors must be Mabuchi RS540SH or the V14 only and must remain unopened. External motor bearings or fine pitch gears are not allowed. No physical internal alterations to the motor brushes or cranking the com. Any one found doing so will be banned for one season.
15) Steel whip aerials and rollover masts are not allowed, and aerials must remain inside the body shell.
16) At BRCA events drivers name and BRCA number must be clearly displayed at the top of the front windscreen, not less than 5mm high.
17) At BRCA events the drivers roof grade colour (if known) must be on the roof of the car either painted or using tape. The colour must cover all of the rooftop.
18) Aerofoils are allowed but be commercially available
18) Alternative motor pinions may be used, providing no alteration is made to the motor mounting blocks. Motor fluid and additives are allowed. No tyre additives of any type allowed.
20) If you intend to alter your car in any way that is not covered by the above, you must check with the V12 Hot-Rod scrutineer, for approval. We expect all drivers to use common sense when modifying cars and to enter into the spirit of the sport.
21) There must be a minimum ground clearance of 3mm; this is to include any protruding screws, 1mm clearance for spur gear.
Banger Rules Race Rules
1) Only one car may be entered per person per meeting, no swapping or using of other peoples cars to be allowed. Only one body shell per car per meeting to be used. Drivers name and number must be on body shell at all times, no sharing of body shell’s allowed, however a different body shell may be used in DD’s and must still comply with all rules.
2) Racing will be in a clockwise direction when the construction of the track allows, plus racing on a figure of 8 circuits at club or National level will be permitted at the race promoter’s discretion. No waiting or playing dead to take cars out of a race, racing in one direction only (except for DD’s), ramp racing at the discretion of track promoter. Cars must be moving at all times, unless on side or roof etc. Each race to be 5 minutes in duration, unless otherwise stated at the being of the meeting, (as per normal section rules).
3) All cars must line up in graded order, white, yellow, blue, red, star’s, champions. Cars to line up two abreast on starting positions, (except DD’s).
4) Any car losing a wheel or tyre or wheel assembly, must be removed from the track immediately, failure to do so will result in the loss of that score, do not wait to be told to do it, as damage to the carpet will not be tolerated.
5) Marshalling
a) Under normal racing conditions no cars are to be marshalled by anyone, exceptions are:- removal by the driver (not to be returned to the track); if a car is at risk of burning out (not to be returned to the track); if cells/batteries, radio equipment or transponder has detached from the car or lying on the track, cars must be removed from the track and not returned.
b) If a car is deemed to be out of control i.e. no radio signal then it is to be removed as soon as possible and not returned.
c) If a car goes over the outside barrier of the track, it may not be returned to the track but may still enter remaining races that they are eligible to race in,
d) Failure to comply will result in immediate disqualification.
6) Infields of all tracks - Cars must be able to return to the track under their own control.
If cars are rolled on to the roof or side then they must remain there for the remainder of the race.
7) Protests of any kind, made to the race director to be in a civilised manner, within a reasonable time of the results being printed and displayed. The race director may correct any discrepancies that arise. Race director’s decision is final at all times.
8) Penalties
a) Any one caught cheating will be instantly disqualified from the meeting, and no monies will be refunded.
b) Deliberate driving wrong way round the track (except DD) first offence verbal warning, re offend and car will be removed from track.
c) Unnecessary shouting at anyone, or threatening and bad behaviour, by driver or any pit crew, first offence verbal warning; re offending will occur the penalty of -25 laps from qualifying lap score i.e. best three scores added together -25, if a reoccurrence should arise disqualification from the meeting will apply, and no monies will be refunded.
d) Any person told to remove their car from the track by a race official, and does not do so will lose that race score.
9) Cars must comply with scrutineering before and after a race (where appropriate) if failed by the scrutineer the car concerned must be repaired/made legal to the satisfaction of the scrutineer, before it is allowed to race again.
10) Points Scoring - If 8 cars in a heat then 10 points for a win and 9 points for second etc. etc. DD winner scores 1 point. Best three scores from four in the heats, top ten into the final.
11) Race Directory’s decision is final.
Banger Construction Rules
1) Use the Hot Rod (V12) chassis or Mini or Rebel, as supplied in the kit; alternatively one made from GRP (max 2mm thickness) may be used. Dimensions are, maximum length 270mm, width 90mm, no additional strengthening allowed. All chassis must have the corners rounded to prevent damage to carpet or persons.
2) Only V12, Mini, Rebel parts may be used in construction exceptions are:
a) Track rods and servo savers maybe upgraded.
b) Pinion/Spur gears to be 32 dp.
c) Ball Races may be fitted to rear axle assembly only.
d) Electronic speed controller are not permitted, any manual speedboard operated by a wiper arm can be used.
e) Tyres, only foam type may be used.
3) Cells, only 4-cell sub C rated cells.
4) Body shells
a) Body shells to be of ABS moulding. Windows must be completely removed as per the original car. If moulding has window outlines then these have to be used: No portholes or half windows.
b) Example of body shells that could be used: Rolls Royce, Wolseley 6/110, Wolseley 15/50, Wolseley Hearse, MG Magnet, Austin A60, Rover P5, Granada Coupe, Jaguar, Oldsmobile, Magnum, Daimler Majestic, Ford Granada, Ford Capri. (This is not an exhaustive list).
c) Roof fins may be fitted, no further forward than the middle of the roof, no more than 2 fins allowed plastic only. Fins to no more than 1” high x 1” wide, no metal fins allowed, they must not possess any sharp edges, and must have the drivers racing number on both sides of the fin. No wings or aero-foil’s allowed.
d) Strengthening & Repairs are allowed, you may use glue sticks, tape, cable ties, joining plates may be used (metal plates not allowed) in conjunction with nuts and bolts, no screws allowed. All sharp edges must be filed, and any protrusions must be on inside of the body shell.
e) Name and Number of the driver must be clearly visible on both sides of the body shell at all times.
f) Body shell preparation should be neatly presented, no unsightly rude or offensive slogans, gestures are allowed.
g) Body mounts - you may use 3 or 4 mounts, made from plastic no more than 10mm in diameter and must not protrude more than 10mm through the body shell. All body clips must be flush with the body shell, there must be at least 1cm (10mm) clearance between shell and chassis front and rear of the car.
h) Roof grade markings must cover the whole of the roof area.
5) No internal or external bumpers are allowed.
6) No additional ballast allowed on the car.
7) Transponder must be fixed onto the car and not the body shell.
8) Additives - only motor cleaning fluids is allowed. Under no circumstances are tyre additives allowed (instant disqualification for one calendar year if found to be using any).
9) Motors to be used as per Stockcar Class.
10) Limos - Maximum width 90mm, length to suit body shell providing the chassis does not protrude beyond the wheels. All other rules apply the same.
